Among the 12 cylinder models, besides the F12berlinetta, which, with its multi-awarded 740 HP is the road Ferrari of series production having the highest performance ever, there is the GTC4Lusso, the four seater with four driving and steering wheels which was introduces at the Geneva Motor Show.
Great recognition must go to the cars with V8 engines, which belong to the family that earned the Best Engine of the Year title in 2016. The Ferrari 488 GTB, with its V8 engine mounted at the rear centre (where 488 indicates the individual cylinder capacity and GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta), combines exceptional performance with optimum driving ease, also for the less experienced drivers. And, finally, the Special Edition Series. It starts with LaFerrari, equipped with a hybrid engine: the most powerful aspirated combustion engine ever installed on a road Ferrari, an 800 HP V12 of 6262 cm3 capacity with a maximum of 9,250 rpm; this is paired with a 120 kW electric motor, providing a combined power of 963 HP, which allows LaFerrari to reach 350 km/h and to accelerate to 200 km/h in just 7 seconds. The LaFerrari Aperta, which had a triumphal début at the latest Paris Motor Show, can boast the same performance. It provides so much fun and delivers such a high performance that Sebastian Vettel fell in love with it after driving it on the Barcelona track for the car’s promotional video. Only 209 units of LaFerrari Aperta will be produced and they are sold out.
And we must not forget the F12tdf, the big star of the 2015 World Finals at the Mugello. It is a car derived from the 12 cylinder engine of the F12berlinetta, but enhanced to 780 HP and produced in 799 units; its name is a tribute to the Tour de France, the mythical race of the fifties and sixties in which the Ferraris often dominated.
