F300: title slips away at last GP

18 September 2019

The F300 designed by Rory Byrne proved to be so competitive that Michael Schumacher battled for the drivers’ title down to the final race of the season at Suzuka. In the end, he finished second with six wins (Argentina, Canada, France, Great Britain, Hungary and Italy) and 133 points (setting the then-record for the Maranello-based company). Teammate Eddie Irvine clocked up eight podium finishes. Ferrari came second in the Constructors’ Championship.
