Kimi Räikkönen’s F2007 returns to Mugello as one of the 18 single-seaters on the Tuscan track for the F1 Clienti programme. The Mugello circuit has never hosted a Formula 1 race, but was chosen for Ferrari’s 60th-anniversary celebrations and to celebrate the World Drivers’ Championship won by the Finn.
The season was decided at the last Grand Prix, with three drivers battling for the title. Räikkönen came out on top in his first year at Ferrari, with six victories to his name.
In 2007, Scuderia Ferrari repeated the feat. Along with the drivers’ title, it also clinched the Constructors’ Championship, thanks to Felipe Massa’s points which included three victories. The 2007 season was the last when the Prancing Horse secured both world titles.
The car’s main new feature was a longer wheelbase. The gearbox was also innovative: it was the first time Ferrari used the quick shift system to cut gearshift times.
