Japanese driver Kazuyuki Yamaguchi (Cornes Osaka) rules the roost in the Coppa Shell standings of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific with a 5-point advantage over fellow countryman Makoto Fujiwara (Cornes Tokyo). The 158 points accrued in the championship are the fruit of consistency, both in results and performance, with Yamaguchi having scored points in every participation to date.
His 2019 curriculum boasts three victories: the first in Race-1 at Melbourne and the other two in the most recent races held in Singapore, which have allowed the driver to leapfrog his immediate adversaries on the leader board (helped also by two points picked up for two fastest laps).
With such a tight gap, the finale will be anyone’s guess. Aside from the two Japanese competitors, Chinese driver Yanbin Xing (CTF Beijing) could also re-enter the battle, currently lying third in the general standings just 4 points adrift of Fujiwara.
